Monteverde: Back to the Misty Mountains

By far one of my favorite places in the country has been the cloud forest of Monte Verde.  With the huge trees stretching up along the mountain and the mossy layer covering the forest, it truly feels like I have stepped into another world. Monte Verde has cooler temperatures and is generally always covered in a misty atmosphere, hence the name. With hanging bridges, cascading waterfalls, and lush green mountainous views, I could truly spend days discovering this little haven.

After hiking through one of the main trails, students take a lunch break on a lookout point situated along the continental divide. To the right is the Atlantic, and to the left- the Pacific. At a higher elevation and in direct sunlight, this is one of the hottest places in the forest.

After a day of exploring the misty forest, we head back into town to our little garden lodges for the night. I get to hang out with this goof while the students are in class with their professors.

Another day of exploring the park takes place while students are collecting data for research.

I never want to grow up.
